Advaita

What is
Advaita?
Our
Model
Why
now?
Advaita is an Indian philosophical concept, literally meaning non-dualism between the inner reality (Atman) and the outer reality (Brahman). The initiative is a namesake of the concept, attempting to draw a non-dualistic approach towards nature. The human-nature dichotomy that is stringent in our present-day understanding of the natural environment can only be overcome through conscious actions. This is one such attempt.
This project is an action-based plan that proposes the need for an interdisciplinary approach towards climate justice. It aims to draw attention to various fields like art, philosophy, politics, law, health, waste management, etc. for comprehensively tackling the crisis. It will further provide a platform for climate leaders to express their stories through short interviews and thus, will take into account the ground-work that goes into this fight.
Advaita aims to follow a methodology of 3Rs, i.e., Realize, Reunite, and Reiterate. First, realize the present dichotomy between our understanding of ‘human’ and ‘nature’. Then, reunite with nature through our action-based approach encouraging people to inculcate eco-friendly behaviour in day-to-day activities. And lastly, reiterate the need for others to do the same in a constructive manner.
There is no ecosystem that is not experiencing the drastic effects of climate change. The human-made climate crisis is continuously leading to the destruction of many natural resources. United Nations Development Program (UNDP) believes that it is possible to limit the increase in global mean temperature to two degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, aiming at 1.5°C, with strong political will, increased investment, and using existing technology. We, at Project Advaita, believe the same. Thus, we consider it imperative to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts to compensate for our wrong-doings as a species.
If not today, then when? If not us, then who?
